How to Avoid a Red Light Camera Violation

Increasingly red light cameras have been installed to monitor traffic and issue citations or tickets. This article teaches you how to avoid a red light camera violation or citation.

If you are approaching an intersection and it is yellow or red, stop at the intersection.
If it has turned yellow and you are unable to stop, as long as you have entered the intersection while the light is yellow, you should not receive a citation.

If you are making a right on red, be sure to make a complete two-second stop before you enter the intersection to turn right.

If you have received a citation, but believe you did nothing wrong, visit the web site identified on the ticket or citation. At the site, you will be able to watch the video and/or view pictures to confirm your violation. If it is not correct, challenge the ticket pursuant to the instructions provided on the ticket.
