How to File for Unemployment in Las Vegas, Nevada

If you are unemployed in Las Vegas, Nevada, you may be eligible for weekly unemployment compensation payments.  Unemployment insurance benefits are provided to eligible citizens of the state of Nevada through the Employment Security Division of the Nevada Department of Employment, Training, and Rehabilitation.  To file for unemployment in Las Vegas, Nevada, you can use the telephone system or the online system.

File your initial claim for unemployment insurance benefits over the telephone by calling the Nevada Unemployment Insurance Automated Telephone System at 775-684-0350 if you live in Northern Nevada, or 702-486-0350 if you live in Southern Nevada, or 888-890-8211 for rural Nevada or from out of state. From the Main Menu, select “2” to start a new claim. The automated phone system is available weekdays from 8 AM to 4:30 PM.

You can also file your initial claim online at the Nevada Unemployment Insurance Claim Online Filing System at the Nevada Department of Employment, Training, and Rehabilitation website.  Read and agree to the terms of use of the site and click on “I Agree”. Click on “I Would Like to File a New Claim” to start the application process.  The website is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Fill out the new unemployment insurance claim form by providing personal contact and employment information.  You will need to provide your social security number, the names and addresses of your last two employers, and your dates of employment for your last two jobs. Answer the questions to determine if you are eligible.

If the state of Nevada approves your initial claim for unemployment, you can now file for weekly benefits. You can file for weekly payments online with the Nevada Unemployment Insurance Claim Online Filing System. Click on “I would like to file a Weekly Claim”. Enter your social security number and PIN and click on ”Submit” to login to the system and file a weekly claim. You can also file a claim for weekly benefits using the by calling the Nevada Unemployment Insurance Automated Telephone System mentioned in Step 1.

The state of Nevada recommends that you receive your weekly payments through the Visa Prepaid Debit Card.  When you file your claim, you are already enrolled and you will receive the debit card through the mail.  Weekly unemployment payments will be credited to the card.
