How to Identify Signs or Symptoms of DVT or Blood Clots
DVT or Deep Vein Thrombosis is a condition when a blood clot forms in a deep vein, most likely in the leg. DVT can lead to complications in your body and a life threatening condition called pulmonary embolism. Below are some steps you can take to identify whether you have DVT or blood clots.
Determine whether you have swelling in your leg.
Determine whether you have pain in your leg, which may become worse when standing or walking. The pain may also be a sharp pain in the middle of your calf. A good test is to sit down in a chair and then straighten your leg. If you point your toe and feel a sharp pain in the middle of your calf, it may be DVT or a blood clot.
Determine whether your leg is discolored or reddened.
If you determine that you have any of the above symptoms, you should contact your medical professional to rule out DVT or blood clots.
