How to Write a Transmittal Letter or Cover Letter
A transmittal letter is simply a cover letter that identifies an item or enclosure that is being sent to a recipient and why it is being sent. Follow the steps below to draft a transmittal or cover letter.
In your first sentence, describe what is being sent.
At the end of the first sentence or in a second sentence, describe why the item or enclosure is being sent.
You may also draft a third sentence (or even make it a second paragraph) summarizing the enclosure or item, or any information it contains. This is optional and is not required.
You may close the transmittal or cover letter asking the recipient to contact you if he or she has any questions.
